So how many NATE hours are needed to keep my nate certification?
You need
16 continuing education hours (CEHs) every two years to keep your North American Technician Excellence certification active without retaking the specialty exam. We recommend attending Mingledorff’s Fall and Spring updates from one of our many sites to get 8 hours a year. Our Mingledorff’s fall and spring update clases are NATE certified for 4 hours each. Our NATE administrator will send your hours in to NATE a few days after each class. it is imperative to have each NATE certified tech list their NATE number while signing the registration sheet. Otherwise, your attendance for NATE CE will not be counted. You can attend other classes as well with other distributors than Mingledorff’s but be sure these classes are NATE certified by the instructor or distributor.
The course topics must be technical and relate to your specialty or core areas (such as safety, codes, electrical, air conditioning, heat pump, gas, or airflow). If the provider doesn't upload your hours automatically, grab your certificate of attendance and upload it to your myNATE portal or email it to recertify@natex.org. if you have questions or can’t log in, you may call NATE at 703-293-4846.

Another question we get is “how do I receive a NATE certification card? You will automatically receive a NATE certification card once you pass the required Core exam and at least one Specialty exam. The NATE renewal fee is
$25 for your first specialty, plus $5 for each additional specialty you renew at the same time. Your certification expires two years from your original issue date. NATE sends alerts by email, text message, or postcard before your date arrives. You can always log into your profile on the NATE Website to view your exact expiration date and recorded CEH credits. The NATE website is NATEX.org. If you are delinquent paying your dues, you have a 120-day grace period to finish requirements and pay. If you are over the 120-day grace period past your expiration date, you have officially lapsed. To become NATE certified again, you will have to restart the process.
