The EPA 608 is Changing!

Mingledorff’s service manager team has certified hundreds of techs in the past years. The 9th edition has been what the current material for exams has been based upon since 2018.

Well, the 10th edition is almost ready. The 9th edition will be available until January 1, 2027. On this date, the 10th edition only will be available. Our team will be announcing this news at all or our fall updates and all upcoming NATE classes this fall. It will also be in our newsletter and on heatcool.com.

Our team normally contacts techs who are enrolled in the classes a couple of times before test date either by phone call or email in addition to original enrollment contact.   It is most important to please read the emails sent by our team members in the future to keep updated with the changes in the EPA exams.

The 10th edition will be current and reflect what the technicians will see in the field today. It will be all new curricula. It will be vital for each dealer to destroy the older versions after January 1, 2027. You do not want your technician to study the 9th edition after December 31, 2026 and not have the opportunity to pass the exam.

The format will not change, only the material. The curriculum will still contain the four sections of testing, core, type 1, type 2, and type 3. If a technician passes all 4 sections, he will earn a universal 608 certification. If he only passes core and a section, he will earn the certification of the section he has passed. A technician must pass core to receive any certification. We continue to urge all technicians to take all four sections and seek universal certification.

Any retest or add additions to their current certification after December 31, 2026, will be with the 10th edition, or all new materials. We urge any technician seeking more certifications or a universal certification go ahead and take the exam this year until December 31, 2026.

Any questions you may have, please contact Kevin Livingston at klivingston@mingledorffs.com. More information is forthcoming as new information becomes available.
